Launchy – No More Desktop Icons or Quick Launch

  • by

Operating System: Windows, Mac, Unix
Website: Launchy

On Twitter I sent out a question about what other people had pinned to their taskbars in Windows, expecting to get some interesting results like… Putty or… anyways, what I got back was interesting, but not expected.

Chris Nitz (twitter) said,

“Nothing because I use Launchy to access my apps quickly.”

Being the naturally curious I am, I asked him what this is all about.

It turns out that,

Launchy is a free cross-platform utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager.

Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes!

Being the nerds that we are, we all understand how having more quick launch icons and desktop icons slows down our computer and takes up precious memory space.

How do you launch Launchy? alt+space. It’s that easy.

Hope this helps!
